Stories from our people: R&D’s Phoebe Dickey

By Phoebe Dickey, R&D Manager
I’m from Alameda, California, and growing up in the East Bay I recognized Clorox as a place connected to my own community. Working for what I consider to be a local company is what makes all the difference for me. I am grateful to be with a company that gives back to the same community where I grew up.
It takes great teams to develop the best products — the products our customers and consumers expect. As the Food R&D manager, it’s my job to make sure our scientists have everything they need to succeed because when they’re supported, we create better products.
R&D isn’t just lab coats and beakers; it’s a community of innovators pushing boundaries together. We lift each other up, have the tough conversations, and make critical decisions all as a unit. It’s something that makes Clorox and its R&D team unique.

Clorox consistently gives its people opportunities to grow and develop in ways that push us to be our best. For me, I’ve been encouraged to take on new roles throughout my career, each bringing unique challenges. Being comfortable with the uncomfortable is only possible when you have the right support system in place, and Clorox has that.
Loving what I do and where I work is not something I take for granted. Every day is a new opportunity to make an impact on the lives of our consumers. When you love what you do, you’re prepared to challenge yourself and those around you to be better. This is where true growth happens.
