Stories from our people: Catherine Isaacs

Get to know Catherine Isaacs, an accounting manager with our Financial Reporting Controls Group.
First, for the non-accountants: “A control just means we have a process in place to either prevent something from happening or to ensure something’s happening correctly,” says Catherine.
“A real-life example would be when you check to make sure your fence’s door is closed before you let your dog out,” she explains. “And then that can translate to our work setting where we make sure we do inventory counts, make sure our revenue is calculated correctly, and do all the things we need to as an organization to create a really strong control environment.”
When the company’s systems went offline temporarily in fiscal year 2024 because of a cyber incident, the accounting team was all hands on deck — including Catherine. “I assisted with the system validation testing when we brought our systems back online. It was really cool to see different people — and honestly entire functions — come together to reach our common goals,” she says. “I learned we can certainly do hard things, and we’ve proven it many times over. I’m very proud to have been a part of that effort, and everything we collectively achieved and learned.”
When the number-crunching gets tough, Catherine turns to a Clorox perk for support: the Calm app. “I used it before I worked here, and then when I joined Clorox, I learned that they offer it as a benefit. It’s a great resource to lessen anxiety, feel more centered and be able to bring your best self at work.”
“The people here are so supportive and accepting of each other and what makes each of us unique,” says Catherine. “For example, I’m very passionate about Guinea pigs — I show and breed them (current count is 25). And as soon as I started here, people were interested and asking about them, and that never stopped.”

“The accounting work is great, but it’s not just about working hard so that my Guinea pigs have a better life. It’s about enjoying the work we do and appreciating the people I work with.”
