Every Hour Counts: Empowering those experiencing homelessness in Atlanta

At Clorox, our purpose is clear: We champion people to be well and thrive every single day. That purpose lives not only in the products we create, but in the hearts of our teammates whose volunteerism through our Every Hour Counts program extends deep into our communities to reach those in need.
Our support of Atlanta Mission, the city’s largest and longest-running provider of services to homeless men, women and children, is one of the many ways we work to give back. This year, teammates in Alpharetta, Georgia, volunteered to assemble 200 housewarming baskets for previously unhoused families entering their new homes. Baskets contained household essentials, teddy bears and personalized welcome messages to help create a home filled with comfort, care and belonging. To help strengthen Atlanta Mission’s work in the community, we surprised them with a $10,000 donation.
As Tensley Almand, president and CEO of Atlanta Mission, shared, “Ending homelessness has never been the work of one organization alone, it takes a community. That’s exactly what we saw when Clorox employees came together to help us ensure those we serve are welcomed and cared for when transitioning out of our shelters and into homes of their own. Starting over is a proud milestone for our clients, but it’s also a financially fragile one. The everyday essentials Clorox provided means one less thing they have to worry about as they rebuild, and the financial donation ensures Atlanta Mission can continue to expand our work in the community. We are so grateful for the partnership with Clorox and believe that together we can end homelessness, one person at a time.”
