Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch featured on new Glad packs, bringing fresh fun to the trash bag aisle

Glad has rolled out limited‑edition trash bag packaging, featuring Oscar the Grouch, bringing a little more joy — and a lot more personality — to one of the most essential routines at home.

Why it matters

This collaboration brings together two icons that love trash. Oscar’s appearance on the new packs will turn taking out the trash from a dreaded chore to a humorous moment, reinforcing what Glad stands for: life is a lot more glad when trash isn’t something you have to get mad about.

Our Home Care Redefined report shows people are increasingly seeking small moments of joy in everyday home-care routines, reframing necessary tasks to feel more intentional (and even fun), not just something to check off a list.

Beyond delighting shoppers, the new limited-edition packaging gives retailers a fun, fresh reason to feature Glad, positioning us as a more creative, collaborative partner. Those efforts translated into wins across grocery and mass retailers including Walmart and Target, where we secured incremental displays tied to the activation. At Target, the activation goes even further through a back-to-school sweepstakes, extending impact into one of the most important seasonal periods for the category.

What’s new
  • Limited-edition Glad packaging featuring Oscar the Grouch is available exclusively at Walmart in April and will roll out to Target and Dollar General locations starting in July.
  • This is a playful extension of Glad’s Don’t Get Mad, Get Glad platform and Sesame Street collaboration,  imbuing joy directly in the product experience.
The bottom line

This collaboration is a reminder that even the most ordinary moments — like taking out the trash — can be reimagined with personality, humor and purpose. That’s the power of Don’t Get Mad. Get Glad.
