Finance team delivers strong returns for communities

 Sharon Daugherty. Manager—Social Impact

Clorox Finance teammates around the world recently stepped away from their day-to-day work to support their local communities. Nearly 200 turned close to 1,000 volunteer hours into 10,000 meals during the team’s Week of Service, held Sept. 21-25. Across seven regions, the team strengthened community connections and advanced our Every Hour Counts volunteer initiative.

  • San Francisco Bay Area, California sorted and packed fresh produce for the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
  • Brampton, Ontario sorted school supplies and packed groceries for The Knights Table at the Brampton Food Hub.
  • Colombia collected plastic waste to be recycled into plastic lumber for community projects with the Botellas de Amor Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to eco-friendly recycling and sustainable housing.
  • Durham, North Carolina sorted produce for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
  • Mexico prepared and served snacks with Hala Ken A.C., a non-profit that runs a comprehensive care center for neurodevelopmental disorders, to support children and families in Mexico City. They also painted the sport court and common areas for a local primary school.
  • Remote teammates wrote encouraging letters to seniors supported by the Mercy Brown Bag organization.
  • Saudi Arabia worked with Mawakeb Al Ajer, a nonprofit recycling initiative and second-hand department store, to sort and organize pre-loved clothes to make essential items more accessible to low-income families.
  • United Arab Emirates volunteered with Feed A Labour, a nonprofit that provides food, essential supplies, and social recognition to construction and low-income workers.

Voices from Finance

The experience was meaningful not only for the communities served, but also  powerful for the teammates who took part.

“The Finance function is full of dedicated, high-performing professionals who are passionate about their work. This activation gave us a chance to step away from our day-to-day responsibilities and see one another beyond our daily roles. It was a reminder that behind the work are people with shared values, unique experiences, and a genuine desire to make a difference.”  – Leah Hodges

“Thank you for putting this event together. It was incredibly rewarding to spend time with my team at the Food Bank and give back directly to our community. Stepping away from our everyday routine to support such an important cause together made the impact feel even more meaningful.”  – Karen Reyes

“Participating in this activity was a highly rewarding experience…it strengthened collaboration and teamwork by bringing together colleagues from different areas to achieve a common goal. The experience benefited the community while reinforcing a sense of belonging, commitment, and pride in being part of a socially responsible company..”” – Brenda Natalie Morales

The bottom line

Together, Finance teammates showed how a few hours of service can add up to meaningful impact,  advancing Every Hour Counts and supporting communities across causes that matter to everyone.
