Water
Water, also sometimes listed on product labels as aqua, is the most widely used of all solvents. It is a colorless, odourless and flavorless liquid and serves as the base of many cleaning products.
Glycerin
Glycerin is used in soaps, lotions and creams to add moisturizing qualities. It is a neutral, colorless liquid made during soap production.
Lauryl Glucoside
Linalool is a fragrance ingredient that carries a floral odour, and is naturally produced from a wide variety of plants, such as cinnamon and citrus plants, and can also be produced synthetically. It is a commonly used ingredient in cosmetics, personal care products, and cleaning products. It has been identified as a potential allergen by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, an advisory board to the European Union.
Boric Acid
Boric acid is used in laundry detergents and boosters. Boric acid is also a good buffer, helping to keep the pH of a solution stable for optimum cleaning activity.
Alkyl Polyglucoside
Alkyl polyglucoside is a mild surfactant used in household and commercial cleaning products. It is known for its foam boosting ability, lack of streaking and easy rinsing.
Sodium Citrate
Sodium citrate is used in laundry and hard surface cleaners to help remove soap scum and stains, and to help regulate the pH of the product. It is used in some hard surface cleaning products as a preservative.
Xanthan Gum
Xanthan gum is a natural carbohydrate (complex sugar) used as a thickener in cleaning products. It is readily biodegradable.
Calcium Chloride
Calcium chloride is used to thicken formulas for better flow or to stabilize enzymes within formulas.
d-Limonene
d-Limonene is used in cleaning products to help dissolve stains and soils and as a fragrance component. A member of a class of chemicals called terpenes, d-Limonene is obtained from the rinds of citrus fruits. It has been identified as a potential allergen by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, an advisory board to the European Union.
Disodium Citrate
Disodium citrate is used in laundry and hard surface cleaners to help remove soap scum and stains, and to help regulate the pH of the product. It is used in some hard surface cleaning products as a preservative.
Enzyme (Protease)
Protease is an enzyme which breaks down protein-containing soils such as meat or blood for easier removal by detergent.
Fragrance
Fragrances and perfumes are mixtures of fragrant essential oils, aroma compounds, fixatives and solvents. They are used in cleaning products to add a particular scent (lavender, lemon, etc.) to clothes and homes, and to mask unpleasant odours. Clorox provides a separate list of all the fragrance ingredients used in our household and professional cleaning, disinfecting and laundry products.
Methylisothiazolinone
Methylisothiazolinone is a preservative, a class of ingredients used to help prevent products from deteriorating over time, maximizing their shelf-life and ensuring efficacy and safety. They work by inhibiting growth of bacteria or mould, or by absorbing oxygen that can oxidize ingredients.
Sodium Borate
Sodium borate (also known as borax) is used in laundry detergents and boosters. Borax is also a good buffer, helping to keep the pH of a solution stable for optimum cleaning activity.
Sodium Gluconate
Sodium gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, produced by fermentation of glucose. Being a natural chelating agent, it can remove discoloration, soap scum and mineral scale deposits left by hard water on fixtures such as toilets, bathtubs and sinks.

Clorox lists all fragrance components identified as potential allergens by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, an advisory board to the European Union, when they are present at a concentration of more than 0.01 percent or greater in the product and provides a separate list of all the fragrance ingredients used in our household and professional cleaning, disinfecting and laundry products.
