- Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® dressing was developed by real ranchers, Steve and Gayle Henderson, in the late 1950s near Santa Barbara, California.
- Artichokes are actually flower buds, and Castroville, California — widely considered the "Artichoke Capital of the World" — crowned Marilyn Monroe the first Artichoke Queen at their annual spring harvest festival in 1947.
- Squash — including varieties like acorn, banana, buttercup, butternut, calabaza, delicata, golden nugget, hubbard, spaghetti, sweet dumpling, turban and pumpkin — is technically a fruit.
