Clorox People in the Community

Thousands of Clorox employees give generously of their time and money to help support the communities where we live and do business. In 2011, Clorox employees volunteered more than 78,000 hours in their local communities. We also had record-setting employee participation in the company's 2012 GIFT Campaign. With The Clorox Company Foundation matches, employees pledged $4 million to support more than 2,125 nonprofit organizations. Here are just a few other examples of how Clorox people are making a positive difference every day.

  • Running for a Cause in Colombia

    For the fourth year in a row, Clorox Colombia employees trained for four months to complete a half marathon and help raise money for Colombia's Run for a Cause campaign. This year, the team collected enough money to help provide medical, physical and psychological treatment to 12 single mothers and 32 children.
  • Rolling Up Their Sleeves to Build Houses

    The Clorox Chile sales team rolled up their sleeves and devoted a day to the community by participating in the program "Un Techo Para Chile" (One Roof for Chile). They assembled three small, prefabricated homes to help families improve their standard of living.

  • Clorox Receives Humanitarian Award from American Red Cross Puerto Rico

    Clorox was honored by the American Red Cross Puerto Rico with its Humanitarian Award, recognizing efforts that exemplify and inspire humanitarian values for a joint campaign on safety preparation for hurricane season.

  • Burt's Bees Employees Build Community Playground

    Employees of Burt's Bees joined with partners, Kaboom! and Habitat for Humanity of Durham to build a community playground at Hope's Crossing, N.C., at the state's first green affordable housing community.

  • Providing Scholarships for Oakland Public School Seniors

    The 21st Annual Marcus A. Foster Educational Institute auction benefits scholarships for Oakland public school seniors. Run and managed entirely by Clorox employee volunteers, the auction and other events raised more than $83,000 in 2012 — enough for 30 scholarships.

  • Alpharetta, Ga. Office Helps Out with Home Stretch

    More than 25 volunteers from the Alpharetta office's Clorox CARES (Community Action Requires Everyone's Support) painted and landscaped transitional housing for families in need in the Atlanta community. The project, Home Stretch, assists families in the North Atlanta metro area in danger of losing housing until they can get back on their feet.

  • Bringing Science to the Classroom

    Clorox employees teamed up to give science demonstrations at local elementary schools. Employees also participated in the Science Fun Fair in Pleasanton to bring science to life for area youngsters.
