Commitments

Environmental stewardship is a business imperative. Environmental sustainability is embedded in our corporate strategy and the way we work. We are committed to doing our part to conserve and protect our planet now and for future generations.

Reducing Emissions

Particulate Matter, VOCs, SOx, and NOx

Clorox monitors the use and release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter, sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrous oxides (NOx). We submit annual emissions inventory reports to state agencies, and this information is publicly available. We're committed to ensuring our facilities are compliant with our air permits that limit these pollutants based on federal, state and local government regulations.

We also look for ways to reduce particulate matter, VOC, SOx and NOx emissions. Accordingly, we have several projects underway to make our manufacturing practices more efficient, and are currently investigating new reduction technologies for future implementations.

F-Gas Emissions

Clorox uses a minimal amount of fluorinated gases (F-gases) in its equipment and manufacturing processes, and we are diligent about recycling, reusing and minimizing F-gases.

The primary F-gas that we use is Tetrafluroethane (R134a) in our industrial refrigeration system. The R134a in our industrial units and plant facilities works in a closed loop system. When we service our industrial equipment, we have certified technicians who capture R134a and then return it into the system after maintenance servicing.
