Clorox is a Leader in Developing Sustainable Packaging

At The Clorox Company, we continually seek sustainable solutions for product packaging, while continuing to deliver superior products that consumers prefer.

We have reduced the environmental impact of our packaging and display materials. Today, 90 percent of our U.S. product cartons are made from 100 percent recycled content and most of our U.S. retail display materials are made from 100 percent post-consumer waste.

By reducing the amount of HDPE resin, the “raw” form of plastic used in Clorox® regular bleach and Pine-Sol® bottles and canisters for Clorox® disinfecting wipes, we have cut our resin use by more than 5 million pounds a year. We also reduced by an average of 45 percent the amount of packaging material used in many of our Glad® trash bag products.

We are among the leaders in developing standards for sustainable packaging. Clorox is an active member of the Wal-Mart Sustainable Value Packaging Network and the Glad research and development team participates in the American Society for Testing and Materials' efforts to develop and test biodegradable plastics.

While we've accomplished much, we're not done yet. We will continue to find ways to reduce the environmental impacts of our packaging in new and innovative ways.
