Workplace Safety
At Clorox, we foster a culture of safety in our offices and manufacturing facilities worldwide. We use behavior-based safety processes to help identify and eliminate potential safety risks before accidents occur. We believe taking personal ownership for workplace safety benefits everybody at Clorox. All employees are encouraged to develop safe working habits and expected to follow established safety protocols.
- As an example of our commitment to the safety and well-being of our employees, we offer an office ergonomics safety program. Our initial assessment showed that nearly half of our employees needed to improve their ergonomic office practices. Through increased education and improved ergonomic practices, the number of employees at the highest ergonomic risk has been reduced by more than 80 percent. Since 2000, the Clorox Technical Center, our research and development facility in Pleasanton, Calif., has dramatically reduced ergonomic injuries to a rate of less than one per year, which the facility has sustained for the past three years.
- At the Clorox Technical Center, we have also significantly reduced the incidence of overall employee injuries to less than one per 100 employees in 2006.
- In fiscal year 2006, the following manufacturing facilities exceeded two years without incurring a lost-time accident: Springfield, Ore. (11 years); Tampa, Fla. (six years); Paulsboro, N.J. (six years); Belle, Mo. (nearly three years); Painesville, Ohio (more than 2 and a half years); Orangeville, Ontario (three years); Cerrillos, Chile (nearly six years); Lima, Peru (four years); San Juan and Pilar, Argentina (four years); Padstow, New South Wales, Australia (three years); Cali, Columbia (2 and a half years); and Auckland, New Zealand (2 and a half years).
The Clorox Company provides material safety data sheets to guide businesses in the proper handling of our products in occupational environments.
