What makes a great buyer? Ryan says, "It's someone with a holistic view of the supply chain who takes into account how decisions impact other functions and stakeholders."
Ryan's job involves everything from identifying suppliers to negotiating costs, managing agreements, ensuring Clorox's purchase systems are updated with correct information, forecasting and managing commodities, and working with suppliers.
A typical day? "My typical work day entails involvement in project teams, working with other functions to ensure materials get delivered to plants in a timely matter, identifying new sources of supply, educating co-workers on the procurement function, and developing relationships with suppliers. At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure customers are happy."
Ryan says he strives to exceed customer expectations "by staying ahead of timelines, surpassing cost-saving goals, and delivering quality work."
